ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities
for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety
of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other
completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets
test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises.
Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity
to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision
trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of
leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Commissioning Ceremony
Two times per year, in December and May, several cadets are commissioned during an on campus ceremony. In May 2010, twenty-four new Lieutenants were commissioned into the Active, Reserve, or National Guard components- the largest class in Titan Battalion history.

Bataan Death Memorial March/German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge
Cadets are given the opportunity to participate in events outside of ROTC. Two popular events among cadets are the Bataan Memorial Death March and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFB). Both events take place during the Spring semester. The Bataan Death March is a 26.2 mile march through the desert. Participants are given the option of carrying their full combat load, or simply walking/running the event.
The GAFB competition gives cadets the opportunity to compete with soldiers from all branches of the military in a two day event. Some of the activities include: marksmanship, first aid, road march, and various track and field events. In Spring 2010, Cal State University, Fullerton had nearly 20 cadets earn the GAFB medal which will permanently adorn their uniforms.

Combat Water Survival Training (CWST)
One of the most favored labs in the Titan Battalion, CWST pushes cadets to their limits. Events in this training include: 15 m swim with rifle, 5 m drop (from a diving board while blindfolded), gear drop, and a timed swim and water treading test.
