Battalion History

A Proud History-A Bright Future

The Drexel University ROTC Battalion has been proud to help develop the leaders of tomorrow.

TASK FORCE DRAGON, Drexel University Army ROTC over the years…

Drexel University’s Army ROTC program traces its roots to two ROTC programs – Drexel ROTC and UPENN ROTC. Both were created in 1917 after our nation’s entry into World War I. Many UPENN and Drexel ROTC students served with the famed 316th Infantry Regiment. Many Drexel and UPENN Army ROTC graduates served with distinction in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and in the First Gulf War as well. In 1997, UPENN’s Army ROTC combined with Drexel University Army ROTC, creating Philadelphia’s Army ROTC consortium, “TASK FORCE DRAGON”.  This consortium continues to this day, developing students who desire to become future junior officer leaders in the U.S. Army. Rated as one of the top Army ROTC programs on the East Coast, TF DRAGON and its members universities providing unique opportunities for those students who seek academic and leadership excellence.
