Sen. Saxby Chambliss
Recently, Cadre and Cadets alike got the opportunity to meet with Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss thanks to the Atlanta chapter of the Association of the United States Army. The AUSA has also helped introduce members of the battalion to Sergeant Major of the Army Kenneth O. Preston.

LTC Dora Teran

Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel Teran holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Prairie View A& M University and a Master's of Science in Human Resource Management from Troy University. She was commissioned Active Duty as an Air Defense Artillery officer in 1994, she then was assigned to B Battery, 6-43 ADA, Ansbach Germany. She went on to become the Chief, Operations Branch for Plans, Operations and Mobility Division in Fort Rucker, Al. She then commanded D 1/13th AVN REGT and served as a training staff officer at the US Army Safety Center. Other assignments include Fort Knox, KY and Fort McPherson, GA as the Detailed Inspector General.

In 2011, LTC Teran was selected as the Professor of Military Science for Georgia State University (Host School), with Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta College, Clayton State University, and Atlanta Baptist College of Nursing, Mercer as partnership schools.

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel Teran is married to Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Edwards of Mt. Gilead, Ohio. The couple has two daughters, Alexus, 9 and Jaelynd, 7.








Mr. Robert Walker

Assistant Professor of Military Science

Mr. Walker runs the Clayton State Company of the Panther Battalion.  His primary duties include instructing the MSIIIs and development of all upperclassmen Cadets into future officers.








MAJ Richard Sheffield

Assistant Professor of Military Science

Major Sheffield is a Military Intelligence Officer with over 25 years service. He served 12 years in the Infantry before becoming a Military Intelligence Officer. He has served multiple locations in his career amassing extensive experience, most interesting and exciting were the 82nd ABN Div at Ft. Bragg, NC and 172nd Inf BDE in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. His last assignment was USSOUTHCOM where he served a 14 month tour in Kirikuk Iraq. MAJ Sheffield Joined the Panther BN 1 March 2010. He is married with one daughter.








Mrs. Jaime Middleton

Recruiting Operations Officer

Mrs. Middleton was commissioned as a Chemical Officer branch detailed Adjutant General in May 2001 from Morgan State University with a BS in psychology.  Mrs. Middleton assignments included Battalion Chemical Officer, Fox Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Chief of Officer Management, and Civil Affairs Team Leader.  She deployed to Iraq from March 2003-2004 and Afghanistan from March 2007-2008.  Her military education includes the Chemical Officer Basic Course and Civil Affairs school.








Mr. Anthony Savage

Assistant Professor of Military Science

Mr. Savage has over 20 years of military service as an Armor and Military Intelligence Officer.

MSG James I. Hill Jr.

Senior Military Instructor

Master Sergeant James I. Hill Jr. is the senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Georgia State University AROTC program. He entered the Army on March 8, 1995. He is an Airborne Infantryman by trade and during his 16 years of military service, has held numerous duty positions ranging from rifleman to Rifle Company First Sergeant. He has been assigned to multiple duty stations to include Fort Bragg, NC; Vicenza, Italy; Camp Casey, Korea; Hohenfels, Germany and Ft. Benning, Georgia. He has 32 months of combat experience with 2 deployments to Afghanistan and 1 to Iraq.

Notable accomplishments: Ft Benning ITB Drill Sergeant of the Year 2005, Honor Graduate Drill Sergeant School, Iron Man Drill Sergeant School, Commandants Inspection Awardee Drill Sergeant School, Leadership Award Recipient Drill Sergeant School, 173rd NCO of the Year, Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, Sergeant Morales Club, Order of St. Maurice Recipient (Centurion Medal).

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5OLC), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with campaign star, Afghan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal with two campaign stars and arrowhead, Global war on Terrorism Service Medal, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge with Combat Jump star, Air Assault Badge and Drill Sergeant Badge.

He was recently selected for promotion and attendance to the Sergeants Major Academy in Ft. Bliss, Texas.








MSG Lori Hoover

Military Instructor

MSG Hoover works to develop younger cadets at the Morehouse offices.  MSG Hoover has been deployed as a combat medic and brings medical expertise and enthusiasm to the associated offices.








Mr. Charles Washington Jr.

Supply Technician

Master Sergeant (Retired) Charles Washington Jr. served over 20 years in the US Army in the logistics field. Overseas assignments include Hawaii, Germany, and two tours in Korea. He has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Columbia College.








Mrs. Tina West

Human Resources

Mrs. West spent 12 years on active duty, separating as a Sergeant First Class. Last assignment at Ft. Leonard Wood as a Drill Sergeant with Alpha Co., 2/10 Infantry. Mrs. West has been working at GSU Army ROTC since 2005.








Mrs. Deborah Williams

Human Resources

Mrs. Williams is a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army. Her last duty assignment - Asst Inspector General, HQs Third US Army, Ft McPherson, GA.  Mrs. Williams has been working at GSU Army ROTC since 2008.
