| Being a Cadet is not just about school and training. Bison Cadets are known for their efforts and commitment to the community. Many of the Cadets volunteer their time to the community. Whether they spend an hour at the Children’s hospital visiting or having lunch at the Armed Forces Retirement during the holidays, Cadets brings a smile to everyone that they touch. While the rest of the normal student population were out on vacation during the Summer of 2008, Bison Cadets took time out to volunteer at the GW Chapter of AUSA Annual Golf Tournament. The proceeds went towards the numerous activities that the Chapter sponsors throughout the year. Howard University Army ROTC is also a recognized Student Organization on Campus and is this year’s winner as the most active company in the nation. Go Bisons! |

| “……..WOW…When I look at my lifestyle compared to that of my non-ROTC friends the greatest visible distinction is the level of discipline that I have. After being in this program for three years, I’ve literally seen boys and girls become young men and women, simply through the discipline they display each and everyday. It takes a disciplined person to wake up every morning at the crack of dawn to do more before 9 am than most people do in an entire day. Additionally, it takes a strong amount of discipline for that same individual to be a full-time student, active participant in extra-curricular activities on campus, while working a part-time job and obtaining academic excellence. Although our lifestyles may be a lot more demanding and stressful than the average collegiate student, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It is an amazing thing to know what our lifestyles will be like once we graduate from this prestigious university. So, with each ounce of stress we take it in strides, because we realize that the lifestyle we live is very different from that our peers; however, just as the good book saids, “To whom much is given, much is required!......” |
