I am an Entrepreneurial Management Major from Middletown, Delaware. I attended Delaware Military Academy for high school and was a part of the JROTC program there. Being in the JROTC program greatly influenced me on applying for the ROTC 4 year scholarship program. My sister who attends the Naval Academy and my mother who is a Major in the Army were great influences on my decision to apply for the 4 year scholarship through Temple ROTC. I joined this program because it is one of the best opportunities I have heard of; it builds character and leadership. Furthermore, it will allow me to give back to my community and most importantly my country while graduating with a degree from Temple University.

I enrolled in Temple ROTC 2nd semester of my freshman year and haven’t regretted it ever since. This program has been invaluable in developing me as a leader and improving my self confidence. What first sparked my interest in ROTC was the FTX, which is the main training event the Battalion holds once a semester. I thought to myself, how cool it would be to go out to a base for a weekend to fire weapons and run the obstacle coarse. Also I related well to most of my peers in the program and made friends quickly. At the end of my junior year, the Warrior Forge camp was the pinnacle of my ROTC experience because it put me in situations where I had to apply all I learned the three previous years into practical exercises conducted with cadets from all over the country. Now I find myself in my senior year supervising the juniors who will go through the same summer training that I went through this previous summer. The Temple ROTC program built me up into a stronger, more confident individual and gave me the tools necessary to lead others as a 2nd Lieutenant.

I’m a history major from Tenafly, NJ. Born in Hempstead, NY my family moved around a lot before settling in Tenafly in 1999. I chose Temple University because of its vibrant atmosphere and diverse student body. I was in a variety of clubs in high school and did some community service at the local nursing home. The appeal of a 3 ½ year scholarship and the Army ROTC program’s long standing tradition of producing high-quality leaders led me to join it. Currently a sophomore, I hope to continue to grow as a strong leader and accomplish my goal of being commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant.
